This is your chance to teach part of the reading! Each week we’ll ask a group of four students to work together to explain a complex reading to the rest of the class. However, I’ve broken up the responsibilities of this group presentation so that everyone is clear about their contribution.

I’ll assign you a question to answer based on the week’s reading. The questions can be difficult, but you’re not being judged on your exact answer. You’re being judged on your willingness to dive in, and help your classmates understand the text. I’m looking for effort and a good conversations. Apply the question to your own experiences and observations.

Before it’s your day to facilitate

• Complete the reading
• Write 150 work outline on your topic on paper or note cards (not a computer or phone)

<aside> 💯 This is a chance for you to develop a conversational style presentation. Become an expert and talk, candidly, about something you know. Therefore, I’m asking students to refrain from reading a word-for-word script. Instead, use an outline and talking points.

When it’s your day to facilitate:

• Come ready to class to talk about your part of the reading for about five minutes. Your goal is to help your peers understand the reading.
• Do not write a script. I’m expecting a conversation, not reading word-for-word. I do not want you to ask a question in AI and then read us what Chat GPT or Claude thinks (it always gives a very similar answer!)
• Be prepared to have a panel discussion with your group
• You do NOT need to do a presentation. Your notes are enough.
• At the end of the facilitation, I’ll ask all the facilitators for that day to add their notes to a google doc that we can share with the class. This way, every class will have its own set of Cliff’s Notes that you can use when putting together your Midterm & Final Case Studies.
